1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. cider or white vinegar

  • Mix dry ingredients.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk wet ingredients.
  • Combine and whisk until smooth.
  • Tap mixing bowl or drop from 6 inches to shake out air bubbles.
  • Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool before removing from pan.
  • Dust with powdered sugar or frost as desired.
