1¼ lbs. chicken breast, cubed
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
3 Tbsp. cooking Sake or rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons Mirin or dry sherry
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 shallot/green onion stem, sliced to garnish
4 cups broccoli florets, lightly steamed
1 tsp. cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp. water

  • Stir fry chicken in oil until browned
  • Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, Sake/vinegar, Mirin/sherry, and sesame oil, and set aside.
  • Add the garlic to the chicken and saute about 30 seconds.
  • Add the sauce and allow to cook about 2-3 minutes, while stirring, until the thickened.
  • Add steamed broccoli and serve over steamed rice.
