1 onion
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 Tbsp. butter
1½ Tbsp. flour
1¼ cups water
1 cup broth
1 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
¼ tsp. pepper

  • Slice onion and saute in oil and butter about 15 minutes
  • Stir in flour and cook 1 minute
  • Add water and broth, and mix well, scraping up brown bits, until thickened
  • Season with worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper as desired
