2 Tbsp. olive oil
2 Tbsp. butter
1 onion, diced
2 cloved garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
28 oz. can whole tomatoes
basil, to taste
salt to taste

  • melt olive oil and butter in a medium saucepan
  • saute onion until tender
  • add garlic and herbs, and cook for 1 minute
  • add tomatoes, bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 minutes
