1950 Cal (8x 243)

3 1/2 cups flour
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
12 oz. beer
1 egg
1 Tbsp. water

  • In large bowl, mix dry ingredients. Add beer and mix until just combined.
  • Knead and form a ball.
  • Place on cookie sheet or in a greased bread pan, and slit an X in the top.
  • (optional) Beat egg, add water, and brush bread with wash.
  • Bake at 375F (190C) until golden brown, about 50 minutes.

2019-08-20 14:09:59: The beer you use to make this impacts the flavor quite a bit. Dark, malty beer tends to do best. I used our Colonial Stout to make a loaf, and that was the best yet.
