1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter

  • heat milk in a small saucepan and slice butter into it
  • heat on low heat until the butter is melted
  • pour into stand mixer bowl

1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. instant yeast

  • add all ingredients to stand mixer bowl, stir to combine, and rest 5 minutes to activate yeast

1 large egg
3 to 3 3/4 cups flour
1 tbsp. butter, melted

  • add egg to mixing bowl
  • add 3 cups of flour and mix with dough hook
  • add additional flour, 1 tbsp. at a time, until dough comes away from the side of the bowl
  • knead for 5 minutes
  • transfer dough to a greased bowl, turn over, cover, and proof for 30 minutes
  • punch the dough down, divide into 16 balls, and arrange in a greased 9x9” baking pan
  • cover and proof for 30 minutes
  • bake at 400°F for 15-17 minutes, until golden brown
  • brush with butter immediately after baking and serve hot
